Warid telecommunication services are run by Abu Dhabi. The network was carried by Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan. The network is actually a combine project of Abu Dhabi group and Sing Tel Group. Sing Tel telecom invested 30% equity in Warid Telecom, Pakistan, an estimate of about $758 million, this partnership was planned to up hold the position of Warid Telecom in market.
Abu Dhabi is the only foreign investor in Pakistan and Middle East. Abu Dhabi has the largest business group’s world wide. In Pakistan, Warid services were started in May 2005, from that time services of Warid were launched in almost 28 cities and about 32 million people were facilitated. Now the major task of the company was to provide lowest call rates to capture its position in the market, which was not easy and the major competitor was Moblink.
Warid Telecom International LLC purchased a license to start mobile telephony network (WLL) all over the country in 2004 and LDI that is long distance international service for $291 million US dollars, it was actually the first project by Warid. In future bidding was held, due to which the license was then acquired by Bashir Tahir the former CEO of Abu Dhabi group.
Postpaid and prepaid connections are provided by the network. Under the name of Zahi postpaid the connections are marketed and prepaid connections are marketed as Zem prepaid. In Zem Prepaid, Zahi Postpaid and Glow Prepaid customer enjoys the value added services (VAS) such as MMS, 64K SIM, SMS, Dual SIM product, GPRS, Talky massages and other corresponding features.
Warid introduced a new brand especially to facilitate youth named as Glow. It offers tariffs and free online content via its portal, an association with Arvato, with in three months it was completely launched and got a wonderful response by the purchasers. Warid has provided services at over 7000 destinations within Pakistan. Ali Tahir launched the brand GLOW. Atif Aslam is the brand ambassador of the connection; he is a famous Pakistani singer.
Corporate Social Responsibility award was given to Warid. It also gives career advices and facilities for Pakistani students in UK.
