On 7th November 1959, UBL came up with the revelation of unparallel evolution and unmatchable superiority which was accurate to the strength of the era. They organized an event that changed the sense of banking within Pakistan, the event was the inaugural ceremony of UBL’s initial branch in Chundrigar and it was just not the ceremony but a cultural innovation. After an exceptional experience of six months, UBL launched branches in Lyallpur, Dacca, Lahore, Karachi, Chittagong and Narayangganj.
After establishing successfully in Pakistan, UBL became the first bank to open its initial branch on William Street in London, United Kingdom. Saving scheme for school going students was first introduced by UBL, which helped the students to save their leftovers in dependable hands. The bank has grown to its extravagant pace by the motivation of its customers and staff. The remarkable contribution by the bank to the country was in terms of technology and introduced computer banking to Pakistan and more over in 1971 it lined a new concept by launching 3 online branches in Karachi. The growth of Pakistan was visible by the bang of industries and commerce.
UBL is the bank that believes in the prospective development of its country. They have also launched small loans for medium sized firms and agriculture department and introduced supervised credit to be recognized internationally as it has branches in 4 continents. It has the great contribution in introducing Pakistan’s first credit card, the UNICARD in 70 and maintained its graph high by launching Pak Rupees traveler cheques in 1971. As always UBL has been the first to promote superior stuff and introduced the country with Islamic Banking and E-Banking facilities at Hajj.
In 1990, Pakistan government decided to privatize the bank and then soon in 2002 UBL was privatized. Best way and Al Ayaan collaborated, forming the keystone for the UBL of tomorrow. UBL is now counted amongst the leading financial services group. In 1983, on 6th of November UBL starts its OBU- Branch in the Export Processing Zone, Karachi. H.H Sheikh Al Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan is appointed as the chairman of the bank. It has also received the Brand Leadership Award for Brand Excellence at the 16th Asian Brand Congress. Its network has grown to 1,300 branches nationwide in 2013. The bank has also come with a branch less service known as UBL Omini.
