As described in previous articles, you know that Balochi are very different and unique nation. Today we are going to let you know about their music. Balochi Music is mostly performed by group of people known as Ostas. Ostas can be from tribes of Baloch nation but mainly they come of the Rend Tribe. The Ostas render their services to the nation on festive events.
From weddings to funerals the chanting of specific words of meeting and separation in the form of ghazals and songs are played. Wedding is the most enjoyable event of life and Balochi spend it with full zeal. Songs known as the Salonk from bride and Nazenk from the groom is sang. These songs are sung by the Participants of the wedding in old times but now a days, since the color of showbiz is spread everywhere, Â a host and a group of balochi musicians and female vocalists are invited to give the event a showy and glamorous outlook.
The ghazals and songs lyrics are based on hope, happiness and union of two souls. These lyrics are inspired from Persian poetry and sound really classic and deeply Intellectual.
In the weddings of different nations, we see that guests are invited by invitation cards but in Balochi it’s quite musical.
Sorna and Dhol are being played in streets to let the people know that a marriage is going to be held. It is the moment of pure culture and glory of balochi music. You may have read the article “Balochi wedding”, which refers to Qilla in which Bride is kept hidden from people except the people close to her. This is the time for her to take care of herself and eat well. Talking of Qilla in regard of Balochi music let us tell you that a music arrangement is also there for hidden bride. It is the singing of relative woman. They sing songs on the tunes of Kozag (A Clay water jug) and Nazenk.
Beside all the Musical Instruments of Balochi Music like Nazenk, Dhol and Kozag, Sorud is one of the most popular one which is being recognized all around Pakistan.
It is cut out of Mulberry wood in skull shape. Its skin is made from Goat’s skin. Many strings are fastened on it to produce the highly amplified balochi music. Its being played by a stick having strings too. Its sound is really enchanting. Balochi Music is a good area to be explored by Music Lovers all around the world.
