In April 2004, the license was provided to Telenor by Pakistan. After acquiring the license telenor started its services first in Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Karachi on 23 March 2005, then the services were also launched in Faisalabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Multan and Hyderabad. The first call centre was established in Karachi on 28 January 2005, while the official opening was held in Islamabad.General Musharaf the ex- President of Pakistan was the guest of honor. Jon Fredrik Baksaas is the CEO of the Telenor Company; where as Tore Johnson is the CEO of Telenor Pakistan. While the present CEO is Lars Christian. Pervez Musharraf made an inauguration call to the Prime Minister of Norway who was visiting Australia.  TELENOR DJUICE

Pakistan Company Telenor is 100% owned by Telenor Group, this company is the international provider of data, voice and content. It has mobile communication services in 11 markets across Asia and Europe. Telenor Group has 140 million subscribers and a work force of 30,000, it is known as the largest mobile operators in the world. About 28.47 million subscribers were reported by Telenor Pakistan in January 2012 and 24 % of a SIM market share. They announced the customer service base of 30 million on October 2012.

EASY PAISA

Telenor has facilitated more than 3000 cities and towns with in Pakistan and have over 7000 cell sites throughout the country. It also offers GPRS and EDGE services to the consumer. It has round about 30 companies owned customer sales and service points and its franchises are about 250. Almost 190,000 retail customers are selling GSM products in the country from which 170,000 are also offering Easy paisa facility, for its mobile banking project; telenor acquired majority shares of Tameer Microfinance Bank Limited in 2008 and than in October 2009, Easy paisa a branchless project was launched.

CNN quoted this service as the “model to follow” in Mobile Banking. Several awards were awarded to the company which includes Prime Minister of Pakistan Trophy for largest Telecom sector in 2011 and the award was handed by Lahore Chamber of Commerce and industries. They also served Shaukat Khanam and were awarded for this. The best Mobile Money Transfer Entrant of the year was awarded to Easy paisa and it was the first Mobile Money award in 2011. The Best Place to Work award was given to Telenor Pakistan by reputed HR associations, the Best Practice award was also given to the company and many more. It was known as the Super brand of the Telecom industry.
