Suzuki Motor Corporation is a Multinational Corporation of Japan. Michio Suzuki first established the company and Osama Suzuki is its current Chairman. Its head quarter is in Minami-Ku, Hamamatsu, Japan, which specializes in making automobiles. The company name was changed to Suzuki Motor Co. Ltd. Michio Suzuki first founded the Suzuki Loom Works in Hamamatsu village in 1909. According to the worldwide production it is the 10th biggest automaker. It has 5 main production facilities in I23 countries and 192 countries have 133 distributors.


The business flourished when Suzuki built weaving looms for the industry of Japan. He also introduced a new variety of weaving machines, which was then import by the overseas. The company’s first priority was to focus on the development and production of extraordinary difficult machines. After the success in looms, he decided to emphasize on the other products to give more benefit to the company. He then visualized that making a small car will benefit the most and then in 1937, he started the project and within two years several compact prototype cars were completed.


This vehicle was powered by an innovative, four-stroke, liquid-cooled, four cylinder engine. According to JAMA, the Japan Automobile manufacturers Association, Suzuki is the second largest manufacturer of small cars and trucks of Japan. In 1952, the company introduced “Power Free” motorized bicycle. Even a light weight car Suzuki Suzulight was also introduced.



In August 1983, an agreement was assigned between Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan (SMC) and Pakistan Automobile Corporation (PACO), according to the agreement both the corporation will incorporate as a public limited company. The new company implicit the belongings including the production facilities of Awami Autos Limited.


In January 1984, PSMCL started commercial operations with the primary objective of passenger cars, pick ups, vans and 4×4 vehicles. In 1989, Pakistan’s Prime Minister held a ceremony of the company’s green field automobile plant at Bin Qasim. The plant of Suzuki engine was completed in 1992 and its production was transferred to the new plant. Margalla car which was 1300 cc was also included to its range of production. The company was privatized and was put under Japanese management observation in September 1992. Its equity was increased from 25% to 40% at the time of privatization by SMC and then was increased to 73.09% in 31 December 2001. The Bin Qasim Plant further expanded its production capacity to 50,000 vehicles per year in July 1994 and 300,000 vehicles had been manufactured at this plant by December 2003.
