Pir Sohawa

Pir Sohawa is a flat terrain pictorial rural sight which is situated near the capital of Pakistan that is Islamabad. It is situated at an altitude of 5000 feet and is sited in Margalla Hills in the district of Haripur. For the residents of Islamabad the place plays a role of picnic spot. Pir Sohawa is sighted near Monal Village, which lies on the incline against Islamabad city. The road through which Pir Sohawa is connected to Islamabad has a view point and hill top garden known as Daman-e-Koh and from the city it takes about 35 minutes to reach there and from Marghzar it is about 13 km away.

This place presents an incredible and charming view of Islamabad during day and night. It is a perfect place to enjoy picnics in forest while listening to singing birds and watching wildlife. Forests in the hills of Pir Sohawa turn green after the rain of monsoon forest. The sight is an ideal spot for hiking trips from the foot of Margalla Hills and that goes up to 3000 feet above, approximately vertically uphill from the Saidpur Village, Islamabad.


At Pir Sohawa a famous restaurant is situated known as “Monal Restaurant” which was completed in the year 2006 offers a great deal of food. This restaurant gives an amazing view of the city Islamabad in day and outstandingly magnificent show of lights in night. At the side of the hotel towards its east Tilla Grani is positioned  which is 1181 meter high peak and one can easily walk on it. Especially in the hot summers day the tourists can be mad about the fragrance and breeze with thick forest present all around.

In winter this place becomes more attractive due to the snow fall. As it is an ideal tourists place it gives a magnificent view of Faisal Mosque and the city of Islamabad and it is admired by the foreign tourists as well. Few inches of snow fall in Pir Sohawa the highest tourists place was examined on 6th January 2012. This place provides an outstanding walk down in amusing jungle paths. In the deep dales of Pir Sohawa are charming thatched mud houses and by the side of the street are some restaurant selling pakoras which is a favorite snack of this region. So it’s a worth seeing tourists place one should visit it in its way to Islamabad.

  1. Asalam0alaikm! what if we want to visit that place for trekking; we have not that before.. so please guide the places to start trekking and cautions. Also other places that we can visit.
