This is a residential educational institute that is the project of Pakistan Steel Mill Corporation. It is situated in steel township, Bin Qasim Town, Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. In this cadet college students are admitted in class eight till class twelve. The college is responsible for preparing boys for the examination of secondary school and intermediate which is conducted by the Board of Intermediate and secondary Education Karachi.
Pakistan Steel Cadet College is further sub-divided into five houses which are represented by different colors and houses and are named as Jabir, Khalid, Omer/khayam, Tariq and Jinnah. Jabir is represented by red color, Khalid by green, Omer by grey, Tariq by blue and Jinnah by yellow color. The college has scheduled extra-curriculum activities that include cricket, drilling, squash, track, football, volley ball, basket ball, cross country, field hockey, physical training, indoor games and athletics. Science and humanity are the two academic departments that are comprised by the faculty. Humanity department includes Urdu, English, Pk.Studies, Sindhi and Islamic Education where as Sciences includes Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and computer sciences.
Professional physical trainers and drill instructors are hired for the students. The college has scheduled some routine games and afternoon games are made compulsory for the students. The school consists of five hockey fields, six football fields, one squash court, five basket ball courts, one Gymnasium, one Athletic field and one swimming pool. Students are also oriented in drill for their future careers in the armed forces.
The college consists of a library which is in Academic Block; more over every house has its own small library. There are two computer laboratories and they are equipped with P4 computers, multimedia and 24 hour internet accessibility is available. In addition to this, they have labs for chemistry, biology and physics. The college has its own hospital headed by a senior doctor along with trained staff and in serious cases boys are sent to hundred bed hospital nearby the steel town in Gulshan-e-Hadeed. They provide best health services and keep their health record as well. Besides this they have clubs that includes Science club, Photography club, Aeronautical club, Coins collection club and music and arts club. To keep the environment healthy and entertaining for the boys’ picnics are arranged and they are taken to recreational spots around Karachi. On top of all the College Magazine is published annually in two fragments i.e. English and Urdu which contains articles and essays written by the students. All the ex-cadets are acknowledged as Hadeedians.
