Misbah ul Haq

Misbah’s full name is Misbah ul Haq Khan Niazi. His birth place is Mianwali, Punjab where he was born on 28th May 1974. He is a Pakistani cricketer and is the current captain of Pakistan national cricket team of Test and One Day International (ODI).



He is best known for his self-control with the bat at the same time he has the ability of an aggressive big shot when required and Misbah is a solid middle-order batsman. In the Tri-nation tournament at Nairobi, Kenya in 2002, he was first noticed for his technique and his temperament.  Misbah ul Haq played an important role in chasing many thrilling runs and he was considered one of the stars of the tournament. He scored a half century in a tied match against India. He played an influential role in Pakistan’s revival in the inaugural 2007 ICC World Twenty20 final against India, with three sixes.  Misbah ul Haq hit the second  justifiable ball of the last over for six, when 6 runs were needed to win off 4 remaining balls.


Misbah tried to hit the ball over short fine leg, but the Indian cricketer Sreesanth caught it. He scored hundred in a test match against India at Kolkata in the 2nd Test of the 2007 series.  Misbah ul Haq was appointed as the Vice – Captain of the Pakistan team in 2008 and was awarded Grade A Contract. After 2010 ICC World Twenty20 he was dropped from the team due to his miserable performance with the bat, and missed the team’s controversial tour of England in August 2010.


Pakistan coach Geoff Lawson said that Misbah has the best cricket understanding within Pakistan and he will do extremely well in the plans for the captaincy .Misbah proved those wrong that criticized the decision to appoint him as captain and stated that he should be given a chance to prove himself. During his captaincy he has won 5 out of 9 series, he also won series against New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka , England, South Africa and the West Indies, and losing to South Africa and Sri Lanka. Misbah-ul-Haq has been dropped from the squad playing in World Twenty20 to be held in Sri Lanka.


Misbah ul haq’s point of view about his future is that ,the Test and One Day International skipper is not looking too far ahead at the moment and he said that  he is concentrating equally well on every single international match.
