Institute of Management Sciences, Peshawar

History:

The Institute of Management Sciences, Peshawar was established in May 1995. The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa granted the institute autonomous status in 1999. Since then policy-making resides with the 18 member board of governor’s which is headed by the Governor of the province.

Formerly, the institute was part of the University of Peshawar, but it now awards its own degree. IMSciences offered 2 programs in the beginning and had just 180 students. Today the institute offers undergraduate, graduate and research degrees in various fields such as Management, Computer Science and Information Technology, Marketing, Banking, Finance and Accounting, Liberal Arts etc. The institute has a new campus and there’s a plan to build the institute into a university.

Motto of IMSciences:

IMSciences has this guiding principle which summarises its vision: “Management with Public Spirit and Market Dynamism”. The number of students who get enrolled to the institute increases twofold each year. The graduates of this institute get managerial and leadership ranks in the best organizations all over the country. Their employers are from both government and private sectors. This shows the sound performance of the institute.

The institute offers bachelors and masters of science degrees in the following departments:

School Of Liberal Arts

Independent programs are also taught here which are;

1.Masters in Public Health (MPH)

2.Masters in Development Studies (MSDS)

Apart from the routine classes, the institute has established centers of excellence which provide certifications in areas where academic training is overlooked. Some of these centers are:

Entrepreneurship Development Center (EDC)

Research And Development Division

Center For Public Policy Research (CPPR)

Human Resource Development Center

Health Management

Micro Finance

Entrepreneurship Development

Salient Features:

The new campus is equipped with classrooms, libraries, computer labs, theatre rooms, conference rooms, recreational spots, and dormitories. The institute is also linked with a non- governmental organization known as the Student World Assembly, tutoring pupils about the global issues of concern so they can shape a better future when they get to the helm of affairs. IMSciences gives scholarships on need and merit base. Student counseling service is an innovative approach that gives guidance to students not just in their career and study related decisions but in their emotional problems as well.

All these distinct features attest to the institute’s high class standards.
