Dr. Tahir ul Qadri was born in a Punjabi Sial family of Jhang on 19th Feburary 1951. His early schooling was at the Christian sacred Heart School in Jhang where he also learned English. He learnt under diya al-din al-Madani. He studied Hadith from Muhaddith al-Hejaz.
He had served in moque of Sharif Family as Imam and very close in terms of relationships. The land and funds of Minhaj ul qaran was given by Sharif Family in the beginning.
He learnt numbers of classical authorities in Islamic sciences, including Abu al-Barakat Ahmad al-Qadri al-Alwari Muhammad Burhanuddin Tahir Allauddin al-Qadri al-Gilani and many others famous scholars and Islamic teachers. He also studied Law at University of Punjab Lahore and got his graduation in LLB in 1974.
Dr. Tahir ul Qadri was awarded a Gold medal for his academic performances. He taught law at Punjab university from 1978 to 1983 and then gained his PhD in Islamic Law (punishments in Islam, their Classification and Philosophy) from the same university in 1986.He was appointed as a professor of law at university of Punjab. Dr Qadri founded a Sufism-based organization Minhaj ul Quran International in October 1981 and spent the next decade expanding it nationally and internationally. In 1987 the head quarter of Minhaj ul Quran based in Lahore Pakistan was inaugurated by Sufi Saint Tahir Allauddin who is regarded as the organization’s spiritual founder.
Over the past 30 years the organization has reportedly expended to over 90 countries. Minhaj ul Quran is working in the fields of welfare human rights and education. He also founded The Minhaj University of which he is the head of Board of Governors, as well as an international relief charity, Minhaj welfare foundation.
Tahir ul qadri is known as peace promoting scholar in the world. He has been in numerous speeches and lectures all over the world. His students and branches of Minhaj ul Quran are spread in around 90 countries.
He also played vital role in making of current constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan in 1973.
He had been elected as MNA once in political history of Pakistan.
Dr. Tahir ul Qadri is an author of hundreds of books published in Arabic, English and Urdu. On 2nd March Dr. Tahir ul Qadri issued a 600-page Fatwa on Terrorism which is an absolute scholarly refutation of all terrorism without any excuses or pretext He said that Terrorism is terrorism violence and it has no place in Islamic teaching and no justification can be provided for it.
