Aloo Chana Chaat

Pakistanis are known as food lovers and they love to eat without caring about the time, diet and so on. In Ramadan they enjoys their habit of eating a lot as variety of food items are available at the time of IFtar. There are several food items without which our Iftar tables look incomplete among these Aloo Chana Chaat is also a most wanted dish of all. In Urdu the word Aloo means potato and chana means chick pea. It is a variety of street food made in Pakistan even in India it is very popular dish. Aloo Chana chaat can be served as a salad or as a light meal. It is made from boiled chick peas and potatoes by adding some amount of spices and vegetables into it.


It is a flexible dish which can be made through different ingredients but the main ingredients remain the same that is potato and chick pea. In Pakistan every region has its own special recipe of Aloo Cana Chaat. One of the most famous and tasty recipe of Aloo Chana Chaat is as following and for this you need to have very simple yet tasty ingredients and they are:



a).half kg boiled Chickpea.

b). half kg Yogurt

c). 3 potatoes

d). 6 whole red chilies.

e). half cup of Tamarind pulp.

f). 1 tsp whole coriander.

g). 1 tsp Cumin Seed.

h). 1 tsp Carom Seed

i). 1 tbsp green chili paste.

j). 2 tsp roasted cumin.

k). half tsp Salt.

l). Onion as required.

m). Tomato as required.

n). Green chili.

o). Half cup coriander leaves.

p). Half cup mint.



In the first step, beat yogurt finely with roasted cumin, green chili paste and salt. Then take a serving bowl pour all the chickpeas into it and then add the yogurt mixture into it and then cut potatoes into fine cubes and add into it. Now spread tamarind pulp, chopped onions, tomatoes, green chilies, coriander leaves and mint leaves on top. Lastly roast dry button red chilies, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, after that grind them all together and sprinkle it on the dish.


It is a very tasty and healthy recipe, so do give it a try and make your Iftar tables more tempting. If its Ramadan then add this superb variety of street food in your menu.
