Aitchison College situated in a peaceful environment of Lahore, the most prominent educational institutions of Pakistan. The school follows a syllabus designed to match international O, AS and A-level educational level. Aitchison College is the descendants of the Wards and Chiefs’ College. Aitchison College foundation was put by the viceroy in 1886 on 3rd November. This college was labeled after Sir Charles U. Aitchison.
Few days after the creation of Chiefs College, it was renamed to Aitchison College on November 13 1886. Construction of the main building these days also know as old building was initiated at 1887 and within 3 year this building was completed. Several efforts were made to provide physical education to the students. For this cricket ground and polo ground were also established. Mosque and dharamsala were also formulated in the year 1900 and 1913 respectively.
Aitchison College is spread over an area of almost 200 acres in the heart of city. Grounds and fascinating building are magnificent piece of architecture. It is a semi-private college for boys, a preparatory school and boarding university as well. This college also provides boarding facilities of about 350 boys in each of the three schools i.e. junior school (grades 1-5), prep school (grades 6-8) and senior school (grades 9-13). Aitchison College gives lots of concentration to moral values, physical education and intellectual value of students.
Discipline is the main objective of this college. This college work day and night for student’s education. This college not only emphasis on studies but also gives attention to extracurricular activities like speech competition, sports where the students represent their country internationally. The college provides all sports activities and the good part is that participation is necessary. Aitchison College is best known for its strong Alumni as many of its students have gone to one of the best universities across the world for study including London School of Economics, MIT, Harvard University, Oxford University and University of British Columbia.
