Air University Islamabad


Air University was founded in the year 2002. It has been federally chartered as an autonomous degree awarding university. The main campus is in Islamabad, while another campus is situated in Multan. The university was set up by the Pakistan Air Force. It is affiliated and recognized by the HEC and PEC

(Pakistan Engineering Council). The main fields of study at the university are engineering and management sciences. The degree programs are for undergraduate, graduate and PhD levels.


The Islamabad campus is situated in the PAF Complex. Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman heads the board of governors of Air University. The Vice Chancellor is Dr. Ijaz Ahmad Malik. A majority of the 120 faculty members, who are full time employees, are PhDs and M.Phil professors. Apart from that, AU has a visiting faculty comprising of professors and lecturers from both within the country and abroad. The total strength of AU students is about 3500. The following faculties are engaged in teaching AU students:

Administrative Sciences
Social Sciences and Humanities
Basic and Applied Sciences
Institute of Avionics and Aeronautics (IAA)

Campus Life:

Air University gives students extraordinary facilities in academic and co-curricular activities. Sports facilities like hockey, cricket and football grounds, besides indoor games like table tennis, badminton and volleyball courts etc are available. The university campus houses an auditorium, a cafeteria, computer and internet facility and provides free health care to students.

The central library contains about 13000 books, is subscribed to 22 journals and receives 7 newspapers. The E-Library has 45000 books and 17 databases. The students can also access 22000 electronic journals through HEC digital library. The library has 2 discussion rooms, 6 enclosures in the researcher’s room, a magazine room with 5 computers, a TV room and coffee corner.

The students of AU actively participate in co-curricular activities, which is reflected by several different student societies and clubs. The university is equipped with 27 laboratories for research in the fields of Aerospace, Avionics, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics And Telecommunications Engineering.

A language laboratory is there for the improvement of students’ communication skills. A student adviser and counseling cell help and guide them with their career related issues. The AU Placement and Alumni Office organize events that prepare students for their entrance into the job market.

Verily, the Air University is giving outstanding services to its students and the nation at large.
